Today begins my first day into the Shakeology adventure. I can't tell you if it will help me lose weight. I can't tell you if it will make me feel healthier. I can't give you any long-term information about it, obviously, because I am still on my first serving. I can, however, answer two questions: Is it filling? and How does it taste?
Is it filling?
Yes. VERY. I am not even half finished with my first serving and I am completely full. I have tried Slimfast, Tera's Whey, RAW Meal, and Special K's Gluten-Free shake, among others. I am sure they each have their benefits, but none of them gave me a satisfied, full feeling. With Shakeology, I may have to switch to half-servings. I will have to wait to see how long I remain satisfied.
How does it taste?
It's not delicious on its own. I have heard the hype from those selling the product about how yummy Shakeology is and I never really believed it. These are mostly the same people telling me how much they love kale. I do eat kale because it's good for me, but I will not pretend like it tastes like anything other than feet. I tried the Shakeology on its own and wasn't wowed by the flavor. However, a splash of sugar-free caramel and some pink himalayan sea salt, and I have a salted caramel chocolate vegan gluten-free shake that tastes more like dessert than lunch. There are so many Shakeology recipes out there, and I am really looking forward to trying all of them.
Update: One Hour Later
I feel so much energy; almost too much if that is possible. There is no caffeine in Shakeology. Though there is green tea extract and cocoa, the caffeine has been removed. Good thing, because this stuff is stronger than Red Bull. I am a little embarrassed that my body is so rocked by all of this nutrition at once.
Update: Three Hours Later
I am still full. I usually need a mid-afternoon snack by now. Nope.
Final Evening Update
Shakeology at noon left me full until dinner at 6. I never felt any hunger pangs, though I did feel more energized.
